Lets Talk Fertility

The Sunday Times Bestseller ‘Dare to Dream’ by Izzy Judd is one woman’s story of her struggle for a child. Around 1 in 7 couples have difficulty conceiving. However, this is still a taboo issue and people are often reluctant to share their struggles. In this short documentary film about fertility, our message was simple - you are not alone. We combined artfully shot documentary images with iPhone footage to create a beautiful patchwork of voices and perspectives. The film was met with an overwhelmingly positive response and an outpouring of people sharing their stories and experiences online.

Challenge

Around 1 in 7 couples have difficulty conceiving. However, this is still a taboo issue and people are often reluctant to share their struggles. These facts amplify the emotional and psychological difficulty around people’s fertility journeys.

Insight

Penguin and author Izzy Judd The Sunday Times Bestseller ‘Dare to Dream’ by Izzy Judd is one woman’s story of her struggle for a child. The purpose of the book was to start the conversation around the topic. To remove the taboo, the message we wanted to share with audiences was simple - you are not alone. 

Solution

To prove ‘you are not alone’, we engaged with a community of people willing to share their fertility journey and asked them to self-record their story from the safety of their own homes. We combined these with artfully shot documentary images of author Izzy Judd to create a compelling patchwork of voices and perspectives. The film was met with an overwhelmingly positive response and an outpouring of people sharing their stories and experiences online. A follow-up, sharing other people’s stories, was published called ‘We All Dare to Dream’.
